We Marathi People

We Marathi alias Maharashtrians have second side of the coin to look into. I think and hope that time has come when we all should introspect our self. For last few days I am viewing the news and advertisements of higher standard educational institutes and found that there is no Marathi student who might have obtained any rank in the merit or has any outstanding qualities in him. It is said that Marathi people have employment in huge number in foreign counties. This is also wrong concept. The number of other people from other caste and creed is much larger than them. For last more than 30 years I am giving free coaching for judicial services competition but no Marathi student had attended the same. Had some one attended classes he might have left within a week? I do not find Marathi boys are admitted in employment in M.P. or even in Maharashtra state in a large number. Their monopoly of becoming clerk has also lost! That was the only zenith for them!
Question arises what are they then doing? I could not gate any answer. Blaming others with one’s incompetence would not do anything. It is not that Maharastrians are poor or financially weak. They certainly belong to Middle class and some are High-class people. But in any case there appears to be no environment for educational liking. Average Marathi family has on an average all facilities to provide for their children to educate but even then they are lagging behind. They have forgotten Marathi language and most of the persons speak Hindi with Marathi people also. This is true in house hold activity too. In all there is no special quality of their caste in them. One of the reason for lagging behind may be the worst habit or practice is to observe too many festivals, religious functions and other ceremonies and spend valuable money and time on them. Marathi people also enjoy Marathi songs consorts and some other like activities in community halls. All these things may be good for pastime but let it should not be the sole object. The another reason may be Marathi people have rude behavior. They speak in harsh, pierceful way and language also. By doing so they think that they are very frank and are of clean breast. Their other concept is that they are resplendent, open minded and ultra modern also. But it is also a wrong notion. They are most ordinary persons and have no practical approach about the way of behavior in the society. By such behavior one does not bring others nearer but the others avoid the company of such fellows. Thus this bumptious behavior creates negative energy on Marathi Manoos. The only quality with Marathi people appears to be they are frugal and do not spend in luxurious manner.
I hope average Marathi person should understand the spirit underlying the letter and not how far my views are correct or wrong. I may be wrong in estimating Marathi Manoos but the mistake may not be so large to out weight the thoughts.
